What I’m Working on
Tough Guy (Demo)
In the last newsletter I promised I would finish this demo and put in a genre changing beat switch halfway through it. After a few iterations over the past week, here it is:
(Demo version 2.0 - mix 02)
I haven’t released a song since January so I definitely need to put this one out BUT I’ve got a songwriting feedback group session on Monday and if I get some useful tips for upgrading this I might need a week or two for some final tweaks.
A downside of working on one song so long is you become too attached to average elements that could probably be taken out. Hoping some people give me harsh feedback to help refresh my view on this one.
What I'm Listening To
“u don’t know me” by Yot Club
Shout out to Father Fairwthr! My dad put this on in the car last week and at first I was not impressed. The intro felt like it had stock Garageband sounds and I slowly began tuning it out…. and then the chorus hit.
The chord changes, distorted vocal, and big room snare hits make a hell of an earworm! IDK if he had a random Spotify generated playlist going or if it was hand selected, but either way….. niiiice.
“Snow on The Bluff” by Evening Elephants
Speaking of earworms… god dayum. This one grabs you in the first 3 seconds and refuses to let go. No wonder I found it on tik tok.
What I’m Reading
"A Court of Frost and Starlight" by Sarah J. Maas
I’m not really sure why this book exists. It’s about 200 pages and nothing really significantly happens plot-wise. There’s one more book in this series but I think I’m going to take a break.
